Programs

Mon – Fri / 3:00 - 6:00pm

All children, no matter their background or circumstances, should be safe after school. But they also deserve more — a place where they can learn, belong and thrive through social, emotional, intellectual and physical engagement with caring adults and experiences relevant to their lives. UNCC provides homework and tutoring assistance as well as recreational activities, including arts and crafts, social responsibility groups and multimedia. We also offer an expanded range of programming on early dismissal or school-out days, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

The Champaign-Urbana Community Fab Lab works with UNCC to provide an open-access fabrication laboratory and recording studio. In collaboration with teens, staff develop activities to reflect students’ voice and choice. Digital literacy programming includes a focus on science, technology, engineering the arts and math (STEAM), however, social-emotional learning — helping students gain confidence, show empathy and develop positive relationships — are at the core of every activity. Older teens can apply to become interns and help mentor and teach in this space.
